hey guys,
i'm almost to the point of launching my own photography website. it's nothing fancy...i just want to have a place to share my photos with friends, family, ... and the world :D. my questions is.... what size (of the longest side) do you store your online pictures for your galleries.

I'm not talking about flickr or smugmug where they size the pictures for you. I'm talking about people's own sites that they created....what size did you choose and why?

(i also don't plan on pasting a huge watermark copyright symbol/text across my images if that affects anyone's decisions .... just my name and year on the white digital 'mat' below the image.)

thanks guys!!

I typically resize mine to 800. I think it works well and I don't get complaints that they are to big. I want them large enough you can see them.

800 on the longest edge for regular photos, 540 height for panoramas.

I think that 640x480 or 640x427 is good enough...
