Hi all,
I've got some cash saved up for a new lens for my D60 and was hoping some one out there can help me make a good decision on it. I now own the following
50mm 1.4f - my favorite!
100mm 2.8 macro
28mm - 70mm 2.8
70mm - 200mm 2.8 IS
16mm - 35mm 2.8
14mm Sigma 2.8
I'm hoping to find a prime lens with the same quality as the 50mm 1.4 lens, I shoot alot of low light, portrait shots of my kids so I was thinking of the 85mm lens or something that won't cost an arm and a leg but has good results. Last year I had lots of time to study but, now with 3 kids, I have no idea what's out there.
I bought the 50mm 1.4f because of Pekkas recommendation and I ammost greatful.
Help once again,
koji

Of those shown, I would choose the 16-35 f2.8 L
I like to shoot wide, and I miss that, not having a 16-35 for my D60.

The 85 would be a good tight lens for those inside available light shots you've described. However this lens translates into a 135 mm lens when you use it on a D60. A lot of people really like that focal length but as I've written before this focal length is in no-man's land. It is a long lens to use for portraits and you almost always will look for something longer outside.
The best part of getting a fast 85 is that the day will come when you can use it with a 24x36 mm CMOS camera and then it goes back to being an 85, not a 135!

the list is what I own now... I'm hoping for a low light prime lens that is similar in picture quality as the 50mm 1.4.
thanx

thanx daveG,
that's what I was afraid of.... I do own a 35mm EOS3 cam that I could use it for but maybe not what I need for my D60. Is there a 35mm lens fast lens that would give me 50mm focal?

Man, that list of lenses currently owned makes me cry with envy! How could you possibly want another lens??? What are you missing (other than >200mm)???
I think I'd either think of something else (new PC, new printer) or save some more and get a 1Ds or something.

Yeah... Don't tell my wife that... I own lots of PC's and really good printers already and I can't afford a 1Ds yet. I love my lens but like I have mentioned, I have 3 kids and I can't handle my big zoom lens, so I'd like a small but really good quality prime lens.
Peace

There's a 35 mm f1.4 that would give you pretty much what a 50 would (56 mm at 1.6). It's VERY expensive though for what would be a fast normal lens. The 35 f2 is a much more reasonably priced lens albeit a stop slower.
