my first attempt at shooting a night (or any) sport. any suggestions for improvement (besides not shooting at iso 1600) they were shot in Tv mode, 1/320, f/2.8. I would have liked to have a faster shutter speed, but when I did the shots were extremely dark (almost all black at 1/500)

A common tip for constant lighting is to use AV (set to max so you get as fast of a shutter speed as there is light) (also, you get max blur of BG) or M (meter the light and let 'er rip).

Don't worry about iso 1600 - it's almost always a must for night sports. Very good capturing the action.

I think her foot is obscured by grass; some fields have very thick turf.

So, consider using AV or M next time, and don't worry 'bout 1600.

thanks for the tips! I think I might try becoming more familiar with manual :)

I think they just need to mow the lawn... she does have a foot :)

the lighting actually varies quite a bit from the middle of the field to directly under the lights... I initially tried using Av set at 2.8, but it was yielding shutter speeds at about 1/50 or slower. So I opted to try Tv and underexpose and pray I could fix it in RAW conversion.

Neat Image is my friend... lol
