Here is a couple from this past Sundays ALMS race at Mosport of the Aston Martins. It was rather soggy from about noon Saturday through till noon on Sunday and felt like I was at a real British race meeting,,,LOL.

All that was missing was some fish and chips in the paddock.

Those Astons look awesome. Just a real shame (for us Brits), that the Audis have stolen the limelight with their new tractor-engined cars...

Nice panning there Bosscat, I definetly cannot pan using 1/250 or lower if my life depended on it, though I did have a few that turned out.

As for the diesel tractor, I have no problems with the Audi R10 TDI stealing the limelight. :)

Thanks, but don't you have an IS lens if I recall correctly??

Some people tell me it helps, others say it makes no difference whatsoever.

I'll have to rent one and try it out at an MX race this fall.

I had the 100-400L.... I guess it does help, what I should have done is try it with and without the IS on and see what the "keep" ratio would be.

Thats the only way to get a true comparison IMO.

I used to be horrid at panning, but its like any other skill, and can be learned through practise.

Maybe you should come out and shoot an MX race north of TO in a couple weeks??

Plus IS can only help so much. I was so darn cold after standing in the rain for three hours on Saturday my hands were shaking and getting a good pan was almost next to impossible!

When is the MX race? If it's on a day where I don't have anything I'd be up for that.

(Sorry for thread jacking the Aston Martin thread :) They are indeed gorgeous race cars!)

I find IS extremely useless during panning. Just keep practicing and get a nice smooth technique down and you wont need IS nor will it really help.

Those Audi's are fantastic cars. While I like the Astons, the only reason they are winning now is because the ALMS has put so many restrictions on the Vettes. They want to try to keep everything equal, but have gone a little too far this time.
