Has anyone else recieved this error code. (Err 02) It says in the book that " there is a problem with the CF card. Do one of the following: Remove and reload the CF card, format the CF card, or use another CF card." My problem is that I was using the card and my camera for several hours. The camera was writing to the card just fine. I was at a wedding (as a guest) taking plenty of candids all day long. I had about 100 images on the card when out of the blue it gave me the error code. I turned the camera off and back on and the code was gone. I took one more picture and the code reappeared again. The camera wouldn't do a thing with that card. When I put another card in it was fine. Now my dilemma. I have tried the card in 5 different card readers. Four of them won't even recognize a card and another tells me the card is not formatted and asks me if I want to format the card. Any suggestions? Do you think it is an error with the card(Sandisk 512). Or possibly the camera caused an error on the card. I do not want to reformat the card and test it for fear of losing and or not retrieving the images that I hope are on it somewhere.

TIA

John, there is a good chance that there is something wrong with the file structure of the CF card, and you ought to use some rescue software to try to retrieve the files. I use PC Inspector, but there are several good programs.

After you've done that, then try it all again with the camera. Once you've retrieved the files, then the camera ought to be able to do a clean format and you are back in business. On the other hand, I had one like that, and it took the new format, but then it periodically crapped out again. I chalk that up to being a failed CF card, so I filed it in the circular file and didn't waste any more time with it.
