Hello all
Just introducing myself.

My names Dave and I have only been into digital photography for around 5 yrs . I love it,s ease of use, I take a lot of macro shots of coins for my other hobby of metal detecting and some of the detail you can see with closeup shots is great,I find a few roman coins that are very small indeed making viewing sometimes impossible with an eye glass but taking a good macro shot and viewing it on a computer monitor works perfectly for me.I love some of these landscape shots on this forum with lakes and mountains and I get very jealous of you all living over the oceans with such fantastic scenery.I would love to visit other countries sometime , maybe once the kids grow a bit bigger and I get a passport(Can you believe it , I am 37 and don,t have a passport yet :oops: )I hope to post some pics now and then as I carry my camera at my side most days as you never know what's around the corner. Glad to be a small part of this great forum.

Hi Dave and welcome.

Coin macros are a great idea.

You can also use them as a library of you collection and show them without worrying about oily fingers.

I'm sure you can get some nice landscapes around Wiltshire.

Welcome along Dave, i don't live far away from you and know the southern part of Wiltshire quite well, indeed there is some lovely scenery in Wiltshire.

A good idea with the coins, that way you (and others) get to enjoy them without having to resort to eye glasses etc. and as evandavis says, you don't make them grubby :-)

Always carry a camera if you can, you never know when you might need it one day, I tend to carry a small 'point-&-shoot' with me during the day at work as I travel all over the south.

I'm sure we'd be interested in some of your macro shots in the 'macro' section of the 'photo sharing' section.

I would love to see you post some pics of your coins. I used to have a small coin collection, but it was just old US coin. I would love to see some old Roman coins!
