this is not my normal thing, but i snapped this one of a friend. it was one of my first outings with my new 20d, and i know that technically it stinks, but i felt like it ended up being sort of a happy accident. now, my office mates want to have it framed for him (he's a coworker). i did a bw conversion using channels, then just poked at it until i liked it. any ideas or suggestions?

I like it, but where'd his chin go? Keep the "head as a frame" theory in mind on shots like these. In otherwords, get higher on that photo. :)

Still pretty sweet shot...lots of bluesy attitude...hey! Give the shot a blue tint instead of plain ol' black and white. In other words, put a blue layer on top of it (or add an effects color filter), put it on overlay and there ya go. :D

yeah, i hate that, too! it was one of those situations where it was literally too dark to focus, and my...."state of mind," did not lend itself to thinking strategically.

i think it ALMOST ruins the shot. am i just not seeing clearly?

Stay with it barP,

Now that you have the PIC, you're able to do what you wish with it....

I'd experiment with it, time permitting...Any way it ends up, your friend will appreciate it...

Lets guess, was this in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas or Houston area...or Galveston, Corpus Christi, So. Padre Isle?

Piano in Texas is pretty cool...It's the fiddle every one always demands...but PIANO is fine, real fine....

you are not concentrating on why you shot the pic! you did this for your friend the musician....he knows what a mikestand looks like i bet he will be just tickled with your effort! i have lots of shots of me with the mike covering part of my face..mikestands sticking out of weird places but everytime i see one of those shots i still think i'm on the big stage and press loves me!!! and so will he if not, make him buy you a beer for trying!
