Have a slight problem here.

Usually when it comes down to it I'm not one for following the law, especially if it gets in the way of an amazing shot. I have been known to uh, temperarily borrow things without asking, tresspass, etc while on a photoshoot but i havn't done anything that caused damage or seriously affected someone. I got a great idea for a photo for someone but it requires painting something on a building and i'm a bit iffy about this as spray paint is rather permanent. Any ideas on an alternative?

Buy the building first.....it will help you make the right decision whether the spray idea was a good one or not ;)

hah, if I had enough money to buy the building I wouldn't be using a 350D ;)

So far I'm thinking chalk, thats about the only thing I can think of that wont stain the wall.

Sidewalk chalk would be my suggestion. It comes in lots of colors, in big sticks, it's cheap and it washes off with water.

Have you talked to the building owner?
He may have some suggestions on what to use, or may not care what you put on it.
No harm in asking :)

There is a company here called Graffiti Guard, they use either a sepcial paint, or a special clear coat on walls that repels other paints.

Have you considered water soluble tempera spray paint? Krylon make it in different colors.

I know you said you don't necessarily care about the law, but some cities have laws against marking up public buildings, fences, etc. -- because of tagging (graffiti). Best to check with town officials before doing any painting or chalking, or you might find yourself in jail. Better safe than sorry :)

Are you a member of the paparazzi? JK

All jokes aside, I would definitely ask the guy first.

use the side of your own house?
Or just ask owner of the building. you never know as long as it washes off and you can prove it does they might be willing to let you use thier wall!
