Many of you probably knew this already, but I'd thought I'd share it again anyways. I paid $25.72 each for the silver Canon BP-511 subtitutes at Wal-Mart. They work fine and they will fit in the BG-ED3 with no problems. The specs on these babies are 7.2V 1300mah lithium ions. Has anyone tried the Lenmar Mach 1 chargers yet ?

I don't know about the ones at Wal-Mart, but I bought two from a guy on ebay that were 1400mAH for $22 for both. So far so good. I have these in my battery pack and have taken more than 500 photos and still measuring full power...Dean

I use two "Power 2000" Bp511 replacements and a Power 2000 charger I got at Band H. I've been using them for six months and I can't tell the difference between them and Canon's.

I have been using a Mach 1 charger since April of 2002 and it has given good service so far. It will charge a flat BP-511 in 38 minutes.

Bought a generic BP-512 when my 511 didnt last as long as it first did. The 512 really shows its inferiority in the cold weather. It doesnt last long enough for my original 511 to charge up! While the power dropped off in my original 511 the 512 suprpassed it at first and then dropped off a LOT.
I'll have to try one of the Walmart batteries despite the fact that I HATE their stores.
