Do you have to have a wide angle lense to shoot panoramic images? If not, how do you shoot it with a normal lense? Cropping in PS?

You can use a wide lens, you can stand back further, or you can take a few shots and stitch them together. Stitching gives you more resolution. Make sure you meter for the highlights and shoot manual, otherwise you'll get banding.

ive started learning about panaramic photos as i like them and i set the camera in manual and keep the settings the same and take multiple shots and stitch them together with about 1/3 overlap.

i also found that rotating the camera through 90 degrees is a better was as some camera/lenses can give a shading on the left and right of the photo but not the top and bottom so when its stitched together the banding is minimised even less.

i use canon photostitch software that came wit hmy camera to stitch the photos together as it is so easy to use

What/How do you stitch them together? I have photoelements 2.0 and when I try to "photomerge" it doesn't work very well.

Thanks

Lots of software recommendations in this thread: Photo stitching software (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=193162).
