So I leave work alittle early b/c of the snow on the east coast. I live in the northern suburbs of Philly and it looks great. Well I decide to goto a local lake and see about taking some shots. I get my camera out set it on the tripod and turn on the power. Dead battery no problem I have a spare but I get the same result dead battery. This story really doesnt have a point I just had to vent alittle. Just alittle pissed that I missed the shot, maybe it will still be snowing tommorow morning.
Sorry for wasting 2 minutes of your life :(

Mike, are you nuts or what? I live just about an hour north of Philly in Allentown and I could hardly wait to get home and out of the crazy driving conditions. Traffic was moving at a snail's pace and tires were spinning and sliding all over the place. :)
Anyway, sorry about your dead batteries but I think somebody was trying to tell you to get indoors and have some hot java or mocha. :D

I love these driving conditions I can go out and have some fun when noones around :) . It does look like the snow will keep up thru tommorow morning so I might be able to get my shot.

Yeah, I like it, too, when there's nobody else on the road. :)
BTW, aren't they calling for about 14" by Sunday? Hope your snow mobile is in good running order (if you have one).
Anyway, happy shooting tomorrow.

So are you pissed that you were too cheap to buy the car charger? Or did you leave it home. :-)
Maybe your pissed because you don't constantly keep one of the batteries on the charger?
Or worse you may find that both batteries are fine. Many Canons have a minor problem where there is not quite enough pressure in the battery compartment spring. On my Elan, I had to put a small folded piece of paper between the door and the battery to provide the pressure for the battery to make proper contact.

Just wondering how sensitive are those batteries to the cold? Oh I think that has been discussed already but how long can they be exposed to cold before they lose substancial power? Car batteries that are borderline tend to often go belly up when the weather gets cold.

Snowy slippery weather isn't all to bad. It's the only good reason for why we have emergency-brake systems (handbrake) in cars, which interact only on the rear-wheels =] Don't tell me those where designed for "emergency-breaking". They're designed for having fun on the ice =) Anybody who've tried to jerk in the handbrake at 60mph on dry asphalt knows theese things are worth next to nothing if you try to brake the car with them, most likely you end up on your roof outside the road.. But on snow/ice, there's a different story :-D
To bad we actually (at least here in Norway) Loose or driver-certificate if we intentionally pull the handbrake, in let's say a parking-lot, to make a funny 180 degree slide :/ If you get caught by the police that is =) Happy driving everyone!
