Hi All,

Been looking at the various image management tools and IMatch is coming out on top at the moment. Mainly for its support of CRW files and also for the ability to deal with offline storage easily.

I'm really in need of such a tool now before my current image collection gets out of hand.

Is anybody using IMatch seriously and can you say whether there are any gotchas with this program ?

Price is reasonable but the download is large (still no broadband here) so I'm after any "stear clear" warnings before I take the plunge.

Cheers

Ian

Hi Ian,

I just noticed your post today. Here's what I said about IMATCH a few days ago:

If you're reasonably savvy with computers, programming, and databasing, IMATCH will be fun.

Significant "gotchas" include:

1. Significant time investment to get to know the program well and use most efficiently -- sort of like Photoshop -- you never stop learning something new.

2. It uses a lot of memory and system resources. On my Windows 98 platform, I can't always move seamlessly between IMATCH and Photoshop. This should be less of a problem with Windows XP.

3. What happens if IMATCH goes south and is no longer supported? As best I can tell, IMATCH is the creation of a single programmer, Mario Westphal.

Good luck.

Thanks Woody. Just read that thread, good stuff :)

I've been using IMatch for a few days now (eval copy) and you are not wrong about the learning curve. But I can already see its power and have already got it doing some nice tricks.

I think I'm going to need the full 30 day trial to make sure it is exactly what I need but it does look very promising.

Cheers

Ian
