Yes, list price $553.98. That is a laugh.

That is an example of salesmanship that is a little over the top.

Amazon US has the card for $199 then the rebate.

J and R , www.jr.com, has the SanDisk 1GB Ultra CF card on sale for $249 plus a $25 mail in rebate. I just orderd it.

I just picked up the regular (non-high-speed) Viking 512M card from Amazon for $75 after rebate. They have the 1G cards for $149 after rebate. The card works great and it's fast enough for casual use, but not if you're looking for a lot of speed.

I did a test and wrote 60M to the card. It wrote at 438k/second. Going from the card to the computer, the card could be read at 1.25M/second.

With a full card it would take about 7 minutes to copy all the files to the computer.
