Hello all,

Been rather busy, that's why I've not been around for a while. I thougt I'd show a few pieces of evidence of a partial reason for the business. These are from three separate concerts held last week. Click for a larger version.

looks sweet. 3 and 4 are my faves. good drummer shots are hard to nail, imo, and you've got an awesome one there.

Kalle, These are all exceptionally good. :D
Kalle, it would nice if you put band names and venue in the title, too! This would be nice. I probably wouldn't recognize the names anyway, but you never know. ;)

Thanks so much guys!

I already wrote a rather long post (used about half an hour describing the venue and even converted the metric units to feet and inches), then pushed back button and it was lost... So I'll make this a bit shorter and less elaborate.

About not mentioning the venue: I expect that nobody would recognize it here, except from my posts. It's "Tanssisali Lutakko" ("Lutakko", shortly. "Tanssisali" translates literally to "dance hall", and Lutakko is the part of the town where the venue is located). The town is Jyväskylä, Finland.

Here's a photo illustrating the venue:

See that crap in the ceiling? Those fluorescent light tubes? (and there is lots more there, you just can't see it in that photo clearly). That is the biggest single reasons of photos going to trash when I shoot at that venue. In many (most?) photos there's just too much clutter in the background. I hate that crap. I spend hours in photoshop after each gig because typically in the "best" photos there's at least one big fat light tube sticking out of the performer's head.

The stage is 0.8 meters high (about to my hips) and 9x5 meters in size (width x depth). You can find more technical info about the venue in English here (http://www.jelmu.net/technicalinfo.html)

This is the venue where I shoot most of the concerts (at least when counting out the summer outdoor festivals). I'm a sort of an "unofficial official photographer" there, I get to go to the shows for free and I get free non-alcoholic drinks (I don't drink alcohol), and I'm starting to have more and more freedom to do as I like, since the people are starting to recognize me, and they know I have a sort of "voluntary photographer" status there. I do make a huge effort to make sure I don't piss the audience or the organizers off by being bothering the spectators too much.

Here are the full galleris for the three gigs above:

Leverage (http://www.bjorklid.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=72)
Kimmo Pohjonen & Eric Echampard (http://www.bjorklid.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=73)

By the way, please listen to the samples from Leverage's first album, I think their music is very nice: http://www.leverageband.com/songclips.php

Thanks again.

Very nice shots indeed. I actually like the 2nd shot. It's sometimes difficult to capture two band members together like that and both leaning the same direction. I think I just appreciate that it isn't an easy shot to take and I like the lighting in the back.
