I think it's DPReview.

Yup... 3.1 million pages in Google for DPREview.
750K for POTN
410K for DCResource

You probably won't get an unbiased opinion on that question.

There is no question at all which is the biggest and best:

POTN

ohh and please don't post the same question in multiple forums. I have merged the threads to one.

As a website for digital camera review I think dpreview is OK. For an unbiased forum - definately not. Simply by splitting the forums they have caused segregation amongst their users. I have never found them to be helpful, say when a XT user was asking a question a 1D user would simply reply 'Buy a 1D'. At least on here you can get constructive criticism. So, it may be the biggest but I wouldn't say it's the best. Of course, this is purely my opinion.

It might not be the bigest but it is definately the best! :)

I have participated in numerous forums over the last few years and have not found any other that compares to POTN. The knowledge and generosity of sharing that knowledge here is unsurpassed by any other, as well as the courtesy and lack of childish nastiness displayed at other sites.

It seems at POTN there are no stupid questions while elsewhere, there are too many stupid (rude) answers.

Yes! Much better than DPReview and FM in my opinion.

I can give you my honest and completely unbiased opinion. I often refer to sites like dpreview, FredMiranda and the like.

But POTN is the best. It's as simple as that. :-)

I've always been using this style of forums..

In fact the other 2 main forums I frequent almost look the same, so it's easy to navigate.

I've glanced over DPReview in the past, looking at the heated debates. It's just so hard to read the text, and the way it's all organised.

FM is so slow for me that I just can't stand going there anymore. DPreview isn't nearly as useful as...

THE WORLDS BEST PHOTOGRAPHY FOURM POTN!

That's TWBPFPOTN. You heard it from me.

I'm sure dpreview is the biggest, but since they cover all brands, I would expect that. I do go there for the actual camera reviews because I think Phil does a good job and is pretty unbiased. While I will troll their forums once and while, I find their layout really hard to read. POTN is much easier to navigate, and more importantly, is a very friendly and knowledeable community. The moderators do a wonderful job, and the general membership also helps with self-policing. If you're a Canon user I couldn't think of a better place to hang out.

I used to hang out a Photo.net all the time, but over the last couple of years I've found that I prefer the forum here better. Photo. net still has a lot of great stuff, but many of the articles are now pretty dated.

I have browsed a few other forums, but I always return to this one. The biggest reason is the layout of the forum, its easy of use. The second reason; is the generally friendly and helpful nature of the people here, sans a few select individuals.

POTN,

DPReview's forum software/layout is a JOKE.

Forums: POTN, no question - albeit they are Canon only (which is all that I use)

Camera reviews: DPREVIEW. I can't remember the last time I even looked at one of the forums there.

Buy & Sell: FredMiranda. I like the buy & sell forum here, but it would have a ways to go to beat FM.

Memory Card Performance: RobGalbraith. I was sorry to see the forums go, and at this point I don't wish to pay for the replacement (even though I have donated to POTN).

My 2 cents (or is that 4 cents?) :)

Have Fun,

Iv been a forum junkie for a long time now, started off visiting bulletin boards in the early 90s on a 2400 baud modem.

POTN is by far and away the best photography forum on the net.
There seems to be an awful lot of snobbery associated with photography as a Hobby, and as a Profession, but its something that seems to be missing from POTN. With the exception of the odd member who hasn't seen the light yet.
There is real, genuine support for up and coming photographers who are new to the Hobby, or who want to pursue it as a profession.
I have really enjoyed, over the last 2 years, watching some of them grow and develop their skills, and in some cases actually start earning money and getting published, and doing it all with the help and support of this forums membership.

DPreview does have some of the best camera reviews though, and along with Steve's Digicams make for some very objective resources.

I would have to say that POTN is by far the most friendliest. Most helpful. Easiest to Navigate. I am a member of several, but I visit this one hourly, the others well I don't even know. So my vote goes to ..................... POTN!

The people on this forum are really, really cool (y'all rock!)... and to think I totally stumbled across it by chance :D .

I remember the first post I made here was because I had a problem with my old flash... wasn't sync-ing properly or something. The number of responses I got from people trying to help me was incredible... and looking back, some responses were from people more along the pro side of the photography spectrum and were doing their best to help out a n00b.

I <3 POTN!

POTN.

but the one linked in my sig is about equal to POTN in everything but size (and the fact it has a predominantly british population and isn't dedicated to any particular brand of camera._)

I only have POTN, FM and Talkphotography bookmarked tho I do visit some of the others now and again if I need to research something and then usually only via a google listing.

POTN is by far the best in most respects, including knowedge, usability, responsiveness and general membership community. Moderation here is the best blend of clarity and hands-off, while Talk is too hands-on. FM I never noticed any.

FM seems staid and a bit snooty. Not much humour there. But the standard of critique seems to be generally higher, if that's what you want, and some of the shots there really can be a step above any other forum.

Talkphotography is the opposite: at times a bit like listening to a bunch of slightly drunk mature students let loose in a pub, but they also try to be friendly and helpful to inexperienced people.

But it is all personal perception and preference. I know people who prefer FM and others who prefer Talk. Whatever lights your fire ... I only rely visit here these days and it's the only forum I participate in.

POTN is the best overall in my book, although I do visit FM from time to time. I also enjoy Digital Wedding Forum and value the information I've gained from that site.
