Help! 5D+430ex problem

I was shooting a concert last night. I was using my 5D with my 85mm f/1.8 and a 430ex on a canon off shoe camera cord. all the shots came out okay, except for these two shots.

Now, I realize both of them werent the best choice of exposure(especially the second) but, im still not sure what went so wrong.

on the first one, i was shooting a burst and the flash didnt fire, so that explains the wrong exposure, but whats causing the noise?

the second one, im not sure what i was thinking, but i still dont understand the noise either.

i'm nervous because im shooting two weddings this week and i dont want there to be a problem. so im hoping its something small that i overlooked.

My guess would be both shots were way under exposed, when doing PP, the software boost the exposure by few stops, thus the noise.

Ist one the flash run out of juice; the 2rd, not enough juice at f14.

okay good. so it was just an exposure issue. i havent underexposed this badly with my 5D yet, so i was a bit concerned.

looks like they were fired before the flash had a chance to fully charge maybe. I have this happen often:)

I wouldnt complain if i only had two shots out of a shoot go bad. But yes, it looks like the flash didnt fire in the first for sure.

That was my first thought once seeing them... Glad it only happened to two shots.

Relax next time and lay off that shutter button! lol ;)

A tip, purchase some VERY good rechargables, made a massive improvement in my 430EX
