Is it art? Most certainly.

Quite nice.

Do you do your own printing Martin? Or do you have a shop do it for you?
I imagine this could be difficult to print without posterization...
(having my own issues with this at the moment)

Yes, it is art. Art is in the vision, inspiration, creativity, and the production. The canvas, clay, camera, photohsop, etc. are merely tools for the artist. Photographers are every bit as much artists as painters and sculptors (although, I suspect some painters, sculptors would disagree with me).

This isn't really my thing. I don't find it interesting or engaging, but that doesn't mean it is or isn't art. I do like a lot of your other shots and would say they are 'art'. I don't know what the difference is other than, I suppose, this shot doesn't 'say' anything to me.

If you are using the broadest possible definition of art - that includes things such as wrapping paper, patterns on bed linen, wallpaper and such, then, yes, this falls within those bounds.

In my opinion, however, it is not art within the bounds of works-on-paper such as painting or photography. You need to have some kind of focus or compositional structure to qualify as art in that narrower definition. Within the rectangle of the image, there has to be some rationale for the artist saying that **this** rectangle of visual information has meaning or impact - and you need to make (or try to make) the viewer see and understand that.

IN MY OPINION, what you have here is simply a nearly random pattern of color.

I hesitate to post this because I prefer not to do negative comments, but I think (hope!) that Martin, as an obviously experienced and very accomplished photographer, won't be offended by my opinion.

Thanks Martin - do you recommend this printer? I think I am due for an upgrade.

Considering the fact that some people consider human feces thrown on a canvas as art, I think your wondeful piece qualifies... Not comparing your work of art to poop, just trying to be a little sarcastic to the ultra artsy crowd. Your piece is very warm and soothing, I really like the colors you chose.. Post more....

I am primaly a BW photographer and the epson 2400 produces images of tonal quality that you have to se to believe, for colour they lack the punch of say canon printers but look less digital and more film print like, yes Anyone looking for a versatile printer that produces near pro printer results this is the one IMHO
