hi
im a beginner
i got a digital camera but i have a problem
maybe its strange but i need your help.
personnaly when i shot a photo of my self from a hand distance i look very bad at the pic
maybe because its taken from too close distance
but when some one takes a shot of me from a distance of 1.5 meter from me or 2 meters i look way better
so i wanna ask
is this problem is only mine ?? or is that happens with you too ?
well i would like to know what u think
thank u a lot

try using the timer and setting the camera on a table, shelf, car floor, whatever...
you might be having a camera shake problem, holding it out away from your body like that.
i take shots of me and the wife like that everywhere we go, its kinda a joke. they arent the best shots in the world... but we have hundreds of them, from everywhere we have been.
post a picture showing the problem, and you may get some more help.

better to leave a good distance between you and the camera, otherwise you will be macro.

Shooting from up close with a wide angle lens will distort your features - or anyone's features. Shooting futher back, there is less distortion and the features look more natural (no elongated nose, bulging eyes, or wide mouth). Most portrait photography is done with a mid-telephoto lens to allow the photographer to stand back away from the subject for the most flattering perspective.

If you post the picture here you'll get more help. Without seeing it, we're all just guessing.

Thanks Wesheath1!
Hey! You are using a Nikon camera! Some people here will ask you to be banished from the forum! :D
Your friend looks a lot like a friend of mine.
He is a nice guy, you can try making a portrait of him, but, please stay at at least 1 meter from him.
Everybody, from 30 cm, will look like a monster!
