Just curious, what is the big difference between the Canon D60 and the D10? Is the D10 considered a step up from the D60?

The differences are not significant, from what I understand. Supposedly there was some improvement in autofocising, especially in low-light siguations. The big news, however, was the price difference. The D60 had a street price of approx. $2200, and the 10D hit the streets at about $700.00 less.

I haven't heard any D60 owners saying they wished they'd waited for the 10D. It's a very capable camera.

As to being a step up, the 10D is a newer, slightly more up-to-date camera, but it's not a quantum leap forward in technology or status. It's probably analogous to comparing last year's Lexus to a brand-new model. Is last year's Lexus significantly inferior? Nope.

If you shoot low light, I am understanding now, that the 10D is much better. 3 point vs. 7 point metering. Plus it has a much high ISO rating up to 3200.

I am a D60 owner, that is going to get a 10D soon. But I will keep the D60, because in excellent light, it rocks.

I heard the same things about the D30 and D60. The autofocus was supposed to be much better on the D60 than the D30, so I went with the D60 instead of a used D30. But now I often read issues people have with focusing the 10D. I think this is also a matter of the glass you use, technique, knowledge, and what should actually be expected of any camera.

As for ISO, I don't know to many photographers who actually use ISO 3200 on the 10D. This is not to say it is not used. I just rarely hear or read about it's use.

I love my D60. Would I trade it in for a 10D? Only if I could get away with only spending an extra $100 or less. I think the main thing I wish the D60 that the 10D has is the recognition of horizontal and vertical. Otherwise the rest I can do without since I don't have them now.
