I looked at DPReview to check write speeds of the 30D I am going to purchase tomorrow and I was looking at two different cards; either the Sandisk Ultra III 2gb or the Lexar Pro 133x 2gb. The SanDisk was cheaper on B&H. Is the Lexar really that much faster/better for the cash?

I use SanDisk. Lexar had a problem with Canon cameras a while ago that left lot of us with a bad taste in our mouths. The Lexar cards had to be replaced.

I've had problems with Lexars and Lexar has once had a recall of some cards b/c they didn't work right with Canon's. I use Kingston personally and haven't lost an image in over 20,000 shots so far.

For the money I can second that one. I've never had a problem with mine on my 20D. and a life time guarantee to boot.

I have a Scan disk, Dennon (something like that) and Ritek and the 150x Ritek is by far the best with the Dennon being the worst. I also use the Ritek SD cards.

I bought a Lexar card after that bad batch was over and done with. I didn't have any canon-specific issues with it, but the card failed nevertheless. I now use SanDisk exclusively. I may or may not be the fastest or most affordable, but I have had no issues with them...that's good enough for me.

 Holy mackerel, and I thought it was my camera. I have been using my two 1GB Lexar professional CF cards in my Nikon for almost a year without any issues. I recently switched to the Canon and about 1 of 30 to 1 of 40 pics always comes out corrupted. I have been blaming the camera for the last three months I err. Anyway checked my SN and sure enough, both cards fall in their “bad” list. I wonder if it’s too late to get the firmware update.

I have 2 Lexars 1gb each working great as well
I have 2 Scandisk Extreme III 2gb each again working great
all these card working great with all my cameras, just last time with an Extreme III card i went to a studio to print few photos the computer in the studio found virus in my card and the seller deleted that virus, so now i can't open my photos, did i lost my photos or is there any way to get them back?
and i used same card of deleted virus with formatting to take another photos and i did open them, just only the photos were taken before antivirus scan and deleting i can't open.
