Wow...I read a lot of reviews on this Canon Rebel EOS 6.3 (300D) Camera before I bought. I am at a loss as to what people are complaining about. This is a great camera for the price. Takes awesome pics, yes, even indoors. Still not sure on what the deal with that complaint is. Anyhow, sold my film SLR and two Sony Digitals and haven't looked back since. This camera does more than a non professional would need or require I believe. Plain and simple and easy to use...it was referred to my by the owner, Kip Evans, of

http://www.kipevansphotography.com/

He uses the 10D I believe with various lenses. Anyway,
now if I can find an 500mm Lense I can afford...that would be great? Anyone know of one in the $1,000.00 range with a F2???

Keep dreaming. That white lens will run you a bit more than 1000. If you want to put a nice lens in front of your Drebel, try a Canon 100-400 F4.5-5.6 L IS. With the cropping factor, it will be about the same as a 640mm.

All the comments in here, I believe, are made with our tongues firmly planted in our cheeks. If you have a Drebel, then atleast you are shooting a Canon Digital SLR.

Nik** is a four letter word in this forum!

Canon doesn't make a 500 f/2. Not in the EF series anyway.. Not as far as I know.

The EF 500 f/4L is around $6000.00 US.

I can't see any 500mm lens that's less than f/4 coming anywhere near as low as $1000

The 100-400L IS is more reasonable at around $1200 - $1400 US ... I have one and I love it..

Tamron/Sigma make some good quality long lenses that cost less..

Samyang makes a 500 f/8 for 89 Bucks :) :)

The Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX APO retails for $3200. It is rated by many as a great lens.

Funny ,. I was just going to mention that lens :D

This was my solution,. and I am very very pleased. It has all the trappings of the best big primes,. in a much more affordable package...

yes the new price is a lot less than a Canon or Nikon,.. but thats not where the "real" bargain is!!!
The real bargain is in taking advantage of Sigma's not so stellar resale value.

If you buy a used Canon 500mm prime,. you will save mere pennies on the dollar Vs. new... but the Sigma will get you an instant $1,200.00 off the new price even in mint condition! (mine didn't even have scratches on the tripod mount?? )

So,. IF you can find one used,. you can expect to pay about $2,000.00 from a retailer like www.keh.com, or mor like $1,700.00 from an individual.

It is much easier to find fault in the equipment than to place the blame in our own abilities to use that equipment.

As to your sig. I second that!
There is an old saying, "Only a bad workman blames his tools". Which means much the same of course.
