A friend has the A60 and it bugs her that the camera always defaults to flash on.. is there a function or something that can have the flash default to off.. I can see how that can be annoying esp if your in a place that does not allow flashes.. i rather have it on when I want it on and then turn it on..

thanks for your help :)

I'm guessing your friend takes pictures in Auto mode...which is exactly what it says...auto...and the default is, and will always remain "flash auto"
When you take pictures in the creative zone (P, TV,v, Av, and M) the camera remembers the last setting of the flash for the next time you turn it on

Hope this helps you a bit on the way.

You should be able to turn off the flash by pushing the flash icon button, too (squiggly arrow pointing down). I'm pretty sure you can shut it off even in automatic mode. Check the manual page 67. I don't have my camera handy to confirm.

It's no problem turning the flash off, but that was not the issue, it was the ddefault settings of the flash, and that is set to auto, in auto-mode as default
