Hey guys i was just messing around, wasting some free time and reading my manual when i did something completely upexpected. I was using my 50mm 1.8 inside with the flash and getting some pretty dodgy results. So i thought i might as well try and bounce the light off the roof using the manual (it was in my hand so i thought i might as well ). Anyways, long story short, i was quite happy with the way just some play shots turned out. Anyway heres an example. (images straight from camera)

1. Using no flash at all (pretty shakey!)

2. With the direct flash (Just dont like the look of it full stop!)

3. Using the manual and bouncing it off the roof

Well im still learning using flash and lighting and i think i just learnt a fair bit tonight! Still thought i want to get my 580EX so i dont have to hold a bit of paper infront of my built in flash

At least the manual is good for something.

What camera settings did you use for the bounced shot? The biggest differences I see are focus and color.

The bounced shot was 1/60 and f1.8 and 100 ISO. The focus shouldnt be that different, unless i moved back or forward a few mm, i cant stand using the 50mm's AF
