Ok canon have put more pix on the 1.6 sensor for the 400d it would seem to me that they could put even more on the 1.3 sensor 12 or 15mp now that would be nice imho.

The rumor is that soon there will be only one "1" series camera that will crop itself (similar to Ni*on). If that happens, there's no need for a separate 1.3 model.

But in the meantime. . .

I hope that the "crop itself" is really an option.

Some time back Canon went on record stating that the 1.3X would be discontinued, and leave only full and 1.6X

I would personally like to keep the 1.3x option. But better yet would be a 1.3X availble from a full frame.. well only better if I can have it for the price of a 1D,. not a 1Ds :(

Isn’t so that the 1.3x only works with EF lenses? Then I guess it’s likely that they only want two standards. FF that works only with EF, and 1.6x that works with both EF and EF-S? Especially in case they are going to put more and more R&D into the EF-S line. Just a thought.

CDS, I heard through the grapevine that when the "single" 1 series comes out it will have FF, 1.3x, and 1.6x options - then the next version, especially
created to taunt you as a Mod, will have a knob with selectable X-factor from FF to 2.0x.

Think of the threads that will generate!

Have Fun,
