I have been shooting lots and lots of sports and just recently have been asked to shoot the team and individual photos as well. I have done about 4 to 5 shoots this week, all in the greatest of conditions, somewhat overcast. However - I am have one more team coming up in two days and the weather is calling for absolutely clear skies. The challenge is that the time is set for 5:15 as the sun is getting pretty low. I have heard mized opinions on backlighting, frontlighting, etc and could use some advice. Where we will take the pictures there is no shade either...

I am using a Canon 300D with 70-200 2.8 IS lens and lens hood. Any help??

A picture from yesterdays shoot.

I'd use some fill flash. And you might consider posing them with the scoreboard or something similar in the background.
