I'm intrested in anyone's comments/suggestions about these pics I shot tonight of one of the local basketball games. Is the color balance close? Could the crops be different or more tight?
I'm gonna spend the next few months getting used to the new equipment and shooting indoor sports before I shoot for "real" when the indoor football team starts playing in March.
Thanks.

Is the green team yours? :D
IMHO the feet are missing, as BB is a game where footplay (is it called like that) is important (in 1on1).
Forgot : But anyway, the pictures are great, mind to share the exif?

I liked these photos, as much as they do anything for me! The exposure and focus look good to me and the colour is fine especially in what looks to be a confusing mix of light sources. I think that Ikinaa's comments about the footwork is crucial unless I suppose, your definitely going for head and shoulder plus ball shots. I'm not very into sports so, usually sport pictures make me feel dizzy (I hate anything that gets me anywhere near exercise!). But these are good action shots with facial expression well captured, which have some story of their own to tell.

Thanks for the comments, Ikinaa and martcol. I appreciate your input.
I agree with you about the feet. However, I only had my 50mm lens and most of the time I was there I was sitting on the front row under one basket, which put me about 2-3 feet from the action at times. I should have had my 24-70, but went to this game specifically to try out the 50mm.
I have a follow-up question about the exif data. How can I make sure it stays in the file or shows up in PBase? Remember, I put these pics in PS7 to sharpen them up and remove some of the yellowish tint. Did I lose the exif data by doing that and is there a way I can work on pics in PC and still retain the exif data?
Thanks again!

I think photoshop since v6 doesn't lose the exif data, but i don't know how you show it in pbase, perhaps you find this information in a help file in pbase

I've been using Photoshop 7 for quite awhile and have never lost my exif data. Did you shoot in RAW or JPG? What is your workflow for post processing.
For me, I hardly ever shoot anything except RAW and then do the post processing in either Breezebrowser or C1LE. I haven't lost the exif data in either program.

I'm only shooting in JPEG now, but will give RAW a chance at some point. I feel like I need to get more comfortable with just shooting and using the equipment, then worry about the processing more later. Guess it's just a familiarity thing.
I've figured out the exif data on PBase...forgot to tell it what camera and lens I used!
Thanks again.
PS -- I've added a few more pics.

I think you got great shots considering your only lens is a 50mm. If you wouldn't have written in your post that you only used a 50mm lens, I would have guessed you had used some expensive telephoto for these shots. You must have been very close to the action.

Dave, thanks for the comments. I was about as close to the action as one could get without being on the court! Fortunately, it was a weeknight game, and it's early in the season so one entire end of the court had one person sitting in it...me!
Man, I have to admit, you've got some great shots on your PBase site! Great job! My brother (who's also David) flys RJs for ComAir and is starting to get some great shots from flying and places he's able to go.
Keep up the good work!
