#1. I think you need a faster shutter speed. Looks blurred due to subject motion.

#2. Lots of wasted space. Zoom in close on the action. Fill up the frame. Also, increase shutter speed.

Are you shooting in motor drive? Sometimes, you just need to let it rip at 5fps, and hope you'd find a great shot at the peak of the action. Shooting in JPEGs will help reduce the buffer load as the file sizes will be smaller.
