Does anybody where I can get software that be used for renumbering photos to match a competitors bib number??

ie - Runner wearing number 114 simply has to put that number into a web gallery and all images that he/she is in appear.

I don't know any software out that can do that. However there is software out that can batch rename. I got on installed on my machine called Rename4u. Once you select the images you want, you could just rename them starting with the # and then anything you wonted.

There is a Wellington, NZ, sports photography business that has custom-made software which scans each image during automated processing, and logs the competitor number into the IPTC block. If it is visible, free of mud, etc...

Doing several thousand images overnight is not much fun for a team of people! number recognition sounds great.
