View Full Version : Sticky/Broken [?] Shutter on Canon S2 IS

Today, I tried to take some photos with the Canon S2 IS and encountered a weird problem. After taking a photo, the viewer remained black as if the shutter got stuck. If I turn the camera off, then on again, I can take an additional photo, but then I encounter the same problem. The camera worked without incident on Tuesday. I've had the camera for about eleven months and have taken many photos with it.

Is this a minor problem that can be fixed or is the camera irreversibly damaged? Is there some repair that I can attempt or should I try to have a professional fix it. Besides going back to the place where I purchased it (i.e. Best Buy), I'm not sure who else could possibly fix it. There's only one serious camera shop in town. I would appreciate any assistance.

What are your settings when this happens? The S2 will react like that with a very long shutter speed.

The camera has a one year warranty... contact Canon for repairs:
