Hmm... just getting into macro photography myself, the "rule" is to make the eyes of the insect sharp, but your pic is an example of breaking the rules and still havin'the shot work. I think when you freeze a subject and make it 100% sharp it makes the subject look static. Your photo definitely conveys the bees being active and the echinacea flower is sharp, and well framed.
