Was sat in my car and was reading Chris Gomeral's book when this guy landed on the other side of the car park. Got one shot before he flew off.

manual focus - 1/60 sec - 800mm - you must be on steriod's for that combo its turned out very well indeed.

I was leaning on the car window - you can see some blur in the tail as it moved, but not bad I think. I've strong arms from miling cows as a kid! :D:D:D

Get the bird while you can, I have done this on many occasions Damian, with different settings and turned out quite good. This magpie with it's colour, focus and details is quite good. Well done!

Thanks guys. Funnilty enough I'd just read in Chris Gomersal's book that when you shot a black and white bird you should take a spot meter off the white and ignore the black. I didn't have time to do that so just lucked out I guess.
