Some of you may remember seeing pictures of our Doxie Cocoa. We called her Girlie and we have had her since she was 10 weeks old. She just past away at 15 years and 3 days and we are heart broken. She was a constant companion, always there to greet me when I came home from work. Lying by my feet or on my lap for as long as I would sit with her. She gave love constantly. I know that she had a very good and long life, but we will miss her greatly.
We have a 2 year old that we brought home also at 10 weeks and Girlie just adopted her as if she were her own. Ruby is the younger one and she just goes round all day just crying. I think she know something is wrong, but might not know what.
The night she died I stayed up all night with her, holding her and giving her water with a spoon. She could not eat or drink. The Vet said she was dying of old age and nothing could be done, but I would have done anything if there were something to do.
The second photo is her final resting place. She used to love this spot. She would roll around by this plant rubbing her nose in the grass, rolling over and getting a good scratch. Seemed appropriate that she spent so much time her in life.
She brought so much joy into our lives, I am not sure what it is going to be like without her.

Thanks. I know they just bring so much into our lives. It is very hard losing a pet. She had been going downhill for the past few years. She was blind and I had to carry her up and down the steps, but somehow expecting it really does not make you prepared for it.

Very sad to hear of your loss. It is a very difficult time but, as they say, time heals all wounds. I know this all too well from personal experience.
The best thing is to focus on her life and not on her death. Easier said than done, I know.
May God bless and comfort you and your family.

Thank you so much and I do know that it is just so hard. We will miss her so, but had almost 15 great years with her and you are right we need to focus on that.

I know how you feel. Our golden retriever died at the age of 17 two years ago and we still miss her. Our pets truly become a part of our families. I am so sorry for your loss. Hope Ruby is doing ok. Give her lots of love.

That is true, they become a very big part of who we are. It is like a part of me is gone.
Ruby is still really bugging out and running all over the house and wimpering. We lost a part of our family when Cocoa past.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It brought tears to my eyes reading your post and made me remember the loss of my 15 year old too. He was a silver teacup poodle and was my best friend. It's been 8 years since he passed and I still miss him. I have great memories and I'm sure you do too. I hope your wonderful memories help you get through this sad time.

Doc -
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. It seems she lived a superb life with great owners. Every animal deserves the nurture you provided for 15+ years. You are a very loyal dog owner and that is awesome. It has to help somewhat to have yet another dog to come home to... Build that relationship as you did with Girlie and you can't go wrong.
Take care.

Sorry for your loss Doc, and as hard as it must have been, thanks for sharing a little about her with us. Our dog is a 14 year old Sheltie, also named Coco, whos health is failing because of age....pets are a huge part of our families...cherish those fond memories.
