The exposure on my 30D appears to be ok, a little hit and miss with the Sigma flash attached. However when shooting a friends children today, in a average lit garden, I thought I would pop the built in flash up, just for a little fill in.
I was using aperture priority, and from the moment of popping the flash up, my pics went pretty well under exposed.
Can anyone throw any light on this matter for me (no pun intended)

Any sample pics please?
include the EXIF to see the settings and data of photo

sometimes i use my flash and still some photos are under exposed or over exposed in some cases.
just i checked my flash and then i got great results, i am sure that you have to set your flash in AV priority.

I think I just sussed it - Custom function 3 was on - taking the shutter speed directly to 1/250th.
What a prize plonker I am.
Cheers anyway Tareq

In Av mode the flash will always act as fill, and the shutter will be set to expose for ambient light. But, if you pop up the internal flash and have the camera set to go to max synch speed, then the shutter can't adjust for the ambient lighting and you'll get an improper exposed photo.
