For those of you that bought your D30 as soon as it came out, were there any problems that the early units had that were corrected by later manufactured ones (other than firmware)?
I am trying to find out if it would be a bad idea to get the D90 as soon as it comes out, only to find that it has some problem not previously encountered during testing.
Thanks.

Hello again
No, there hasent been any thing that i heard of.
Got mine in feb 01.
Now You can get the D60 for the same money.
But then You have to have the L lenses, 6mp is more tricky for the lenses.

Are you saying that only the L series lenses will be good for the D60???? This scares me!

While the L series lenses are great, photographers have long been using non-L lenses to produce wonderful work with Canon film cameras, which are just as revealing of lens deficiencies as the D60, if not more so.
Remember, the lens does not make the photograph, the photographer does! A gram of trained ability is worth more than 3 kilograms of flourite glass!

I would rather wait for a 1:1 (with 35mm film size) sensor, cause smaller sensor with higher resolution will simply magnify lens abberations. Even with D30, we can see many so called "good" lenses under perform.

I just bought a 15 year treasury bill in anticipation of the D4800.
Rumor has it available in the summer of 2017.
I don't want to miss it!
Gonna be great!!!

Forget about it Anthony, you won't want one! My dealer showed me some early beta samples and the camera is so good I suddenly realized even Canon's "L" lenses are crap!

I hate it when people post stupid titles just so people will read it. They don't have anything cool to say. Do you think the d60 will be bad? Do you think canon has been in business for 80 + yrs with bad cameras?
As far as the guy who said he's gonna wait 'til a 1:1 chip is out because there would be less noise, well i don't think the're going to make a 1:1 (other than the contax 1:1) in a 6mp down the road, they are going to push it to the max just like they are doing now. So it will be a 1:1 at 12mp. Same noise as we have now. And the pics people get with a G2 are great for a 4x6.
The D30 is awesome. Really. Print a 4x6 with a D30 and a D60. You can't tell the difference. I work at Ritz camera we have a fuji 390 currently the best printer for digital pics, and 99.5% of people just get 4x6's. It seems like NO ONE gets any 5x7's. So ask youself, how big are you going to print, instead of how big can you print.
I must admit, I will be changing my name to D60man MI, but I print big for a nice discount.

Message was originally put up because many times wih new products, low serial number devices have problems that are found in the field, that weren't found during beta testing.
But, being in the business, I assume you already know that, and that you understand then the reason for the origfinal post.
The fact that the original message title said D90 as opposed to D60 was simply a typo.
