Changing units on 550ex flash

I am trying to change the distance units on my 550ex from feet to meter, with no luck. Went through both the 10D and 550ex manuals. Can somebody help?

Open the battery compartment, take out the batteries.
At the top of the battery compartment to the rear of the unit there is a slide switch - marked m (up) and f (down).
Not easy to find is it?
