I went over to Thruxton on Saturday for a BARC club meeting. The weather was incredibly dull with low cloud and very poor light. As usual the chicane provided some good action and some object lessons in how (and how not) to use the kerbs to the best advantage.
#1 The right way to do it! James Perrot in the BMW 325i gives an object lesson in getting the most from the kerbs.

#2 Well, sort of… Witt Gamski in his F355 Challenge almost gets it right.

#3 errr…. No! Robin Walker in the MG F

#4 No, no, no, no, NO! Edward Benson shows off in his Caterham Super Graduate.

#5 Of course, to really fly you need wings, as Michael Broadhurst will now demonstrate in his Formula Renault! Take off…

#6 Of course, airplanes have a rudder but wheel based steering is a waste of time with all four wheels in the air, as he’s just found out.

#7 and a safe (although bumpy) landing

#8 and although this is all quite amusing, the kerbs at Thruxton can bite. This is what happened to Ian Munns after he appeared to lose the back end over those self same kerbs… I doubt it will polish out (driver was fine).
