Does it make any sense to have a color printing forum? Was trying to set up my i960 printer and it would sure be nice to have a place to go for tips and advice on such things as color management, ICM, color spaces, and things related to setting up color photo printers on a computer. My installation went fine, but other than the automatic settings, there is little information about how to optimize monitor, camera, and printer for best color balance, saturation, and density. Is it better to print from Adobe Photoshop or from the Canon Easy Print? Does is make a difference whether you set the resolution in Adobe Photoshop, or let Easy Print just resize and print to fit. Questions, Questions....

There is tons of useful information as well as step by step instructions for color management on this board and the software board. Do a search above on "color management" , "photoshop" and "printer problems". There is enough info there on monitor calibration, photoshop settings, and printer driver settings to get you going. It's all there!
Good Luck,
Scott

Actually, I think it would be useful to have an Editing & Printing forum like over at Fred Miranda's site. Otherwise these themes come up scattered all over the place, usually OT. It is more accesible and useful when they are focused in one place since they are very important topics for just about everybody. I see exactly the same questions and answers coming up again and again spread all over the place. People with answers start getting tired of repeating themselves and start ignoring the questions. I do.

I agree it is a good idea! I just thought the original poster thought the information wasn't available here because there wasn't a specific forum for it.

Right Scott. There is a VAST amount of info here, just wading through the fluff to get at the stuff can be exhausting, especially when you've got a burning problem you want to solve NOW! A search cuts some of the froth, but it is still a way to the cool slug of beer...

Actually Scott, your reply was very helpful. I had not used the search utility before and I am finding a lot of useful information with it. I noticed that you have written quite a bit on the subject - so thanks for your efforts.

Your very welcome. If you have a specific question after your readings, feel free to post it. There are some very knowledgeable people on these boards. They taught me how to color manage my system.
