With the 1.6x factor on the D30, and sounds like it will be the same for the D60, what is the general opinion on the best all around (first lens to buy) for this camera?
Thanks.

It depends on what you are going to shoot
and on how much money you are going to spend.
Something like Pekka's choice looks perfect
and not expensive in certain sense.
However with bunch of money I would buy
Canon 17-35L f/2.8, Sigma 14 f/2.8, Canon 28-105L f/2.8,
Canon 80-200 f/2.8 and Canon 50 f/1.4, but I
could not afford them now.

I think that last guy had some good lense but he is forggeting one very important lens i think. And that is the 28-70 2.8 L its very sharp, excellent in low light. It 's not cheap buty high quality never is.

What makes the L series better than the rest?

Hello pinfante
The pricetag.........
You can“t afford to tell anybody that a L lens is crap....
Try the Sigma 24-70/2.8
