Anyone try IR w/ 10D?

Has anyone tried shooting Infrared (filters) with the Canon 10D?
I know what film looks like, I'm curious (more now that I have my 10D in hand!) how this will work? Is it worth spending $$$ on quality filters?

using a Hoya R72 filter on a 50/1.4.
I can't remember the settings, but I think 6 seconds at f2.8, manual focus.
