View Full Version : Flash Problems

Can anyone tell me (or try this) please.

I have a Canon EOS10D, 2.0 firmware.

Custom function 15 in any of the manual modes is second curtain flash. The flash fires at the start and the end of the exposure. Great for low light, longer exposures...

When I use the internal flash there are no problems. it works great. When I put the Speedlite 550ex on the camera the flash fires at the start (as does the internal flash) but not at the end of the exposure??

So do I have a faulty unit or does the 550ex simply not support this externally?

I would be REALLY greatful if someone could fill me in here. Canon don't even seem to know, so maybe someone could do a test for me on their 10D with a 550ex speedlite.

Thanks heaps.

Cheers
Jason

Do you have the 550EX set to 2nd curtain? It has to be if you want 2nd curtain flash with it. The 550EX overrides whatever you have set on the 10D.

No I dont? I didnt know that. So there is a function on the 550ex on the actual flash unit for second curatin flash? I cant see anything in the manual about this.

Have you tried it? Any tips!

Thanks heaps, thats a huge relief!!
