Tips on Creating your own studio

I'm on a very low budget So what are some tips to creating my own studio. I have a huge space in my basement that would do perfectly. What kind of stuff would I need?

Get one strobe.
And then get stands and materials to modify it with - diffuse, reflect, direct...
A flash meter is also a must IMO.

Well I haven't really decided yet. I like taking eerie type pics with not much going on. Simple, but you really know whats going on. I have a film camera (XSN) So I have to wait on the arrival of my new scanner to upload my recents
