Hello.

I don't have Photoshop but I do have Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7. I have been trying to enhance the skys in some of my photographs but despite my fiddling I have been unable to find anything is PSP to help me with this. I don't suppose anyone here uses PSP 7 that could advise me?

Thank you very much.

What exactly are you trying to do?

That's an excellent question. I have heard that in PS you can enhance bland looking skys, by playing with layers and what-not, I am wondering if there is any similiar option in PSP 7.

Thanks.

I think I have to bow out of this one and avoid yet another PS/PSP debate. A Google search for ""paint shop pro" vs photoshop" yielded 9800 hits. It's a place to start.

I've been using both for many years - I have them both open right now. I'm no guru in either, but pretty damn good in both. I think that PSP is an excellent tool, but that PS is an unbelievable, awesomely powerful tool.

Compare a Corvette against a Lamborghini perhaps?

You can download PSP and try it for 30 days. I don't think you'll be sorry. But depending on your level and desires, you may find that in 6 months or a year that you'll buy PS. Download PSP and try it. If you find PSP lacking, then perhaps buy Photoshop Elements - much cheaper than full PS, you can upgrade it to PS for a lesser price, and everything you learn in Elements will be the same in PS.

I just realized that I totally avoided your question...

Yes, you can play with color adjustments and layers in PSP. However, PS's Adjustment Layers are much more powerful.

A check on pricing for Elements shows $82 on Amazon. I'm not familiar with Elements, and just know what I've come across on the web. But I'd have a hard time recommending PSP over Elements at the same price. But a 30-day trial of PSP is free...

Thanks gents. My problem is that I don't really have the money to get any more high priced software, using all my cash for camera equipment, lol. I do however have a version of PSP though, so with it at hand it's not really a decision between either PSP or PS, at the moment at least.

I'll look about on the net and see what I can find, but if anyone knows of any good links or tutorials I'd be most appreciative.

Thank you for your responses so far.

You could also get Photoshop Elements 2.0, which is about the same price as Paint Shop Pro. With some cameras (for example the 10D), scanners and other stuff you get PS Elements 2.0 with it for free.

Ask your question in the forum of the PSP User Group: http://www.pspug.org/

There are lots of PSP users there who can help you. There are also tutorials and lots of other interesting articles etc. for PSP on that website.

Winston, I also have PSP7. I also have the earlier version PSP6. I use both everyday. If you want PSP Tutorials, just type in "PSP Tutorials" in your search engine. You will find enough to keep you busy for a 100 years.:D:D
