How about these?
The first one had quite a bit of PS Work cloning out a wire full of lights.

I dont like the compositions, they look kind of slopy. Also, they are kind of ordinary scenes with nothing to catch the eye. Not a very good work, im afraid...

Slopy or sloppy? (Aw, shucks - please don't say both). :eyes
Anyway, thanks for looking. I guess that the level of interest reflects your comments. I'll go shoot more.

Oooh Warman, harsh, there is a saying "there is a little bit of good in everyone" every photo has a little good in it.
But, I agree, the compositions do not emphasize your images real well. (Though, I must commend you on the work you did in photoshop on the first photo)
You seem to have a firm understanding of exposure.
The problem with the composition that bothers me on the first one is you have 3 primary objects, but you can not see the base of anything... it just is... anoying... like that.
The second one, is well, just boring... What are you saying with the photo? Photo is art, it should have a meaning. (unless they are vacation snapshots, then it just shows the vacation)

Thanks for that
Absolutely right....
I'm not quite ready to take up stamp collecting just yet. Will persevere with the 10D for a while longer!
I think the first pic is interesting but accept that having the bottom cut off is not good and the three subjects are distracting. I was trying to get a sense of confused perspective in a way. That London Eye is huge but shooting it there changed it a bit but, not enought!
The second one well, OK, just a snap but heck, a well exposed snap!
I'll keep trying and one day I'll shoot something everyone will like or maybe, shoot myself
Thanks again

Well dont think it has come to that :-) I always get amusment when I tell someone I took a photo while driving "drive by shooting" but maybe that is my twisted humor at play.

Martin,
You know, I've been away from this forum for a long time
as destructive criticism really annoys me.
Some one saying "this photo does nothing for me" or similar negative remarks is totally unhelpful to the person who took the trouble to post the picture.
Pekka should change the name of the forum to
CONSTRUCTIVE ONLY Critiques Forum !
We are not all at the same level of proficiency and those who feel superior should make helpful comments or remain silent.
.....................................
On your photos, I can see a lot of merit in the first one.
It's an angle of the Eye that I have not seen before.
As the Eye is the centre of interest, you might like to
sharpen it a bit.
I don't mind the missing base of the structures.
In fact I'd prefer it cropped to above the distracting Dali Sign. Scroll down and you'll see what I mean.
This way it has a much greater feeling of height.
Of course taking photos when the colour temperature is high and the light is very blue is not ideal.
Early or late in the day is preferable.
.......................
The second one is not a very good composition but still, it attracted your attention and that's good.
If you crop it more tightly you'll have a pleasant photo.
Crop it just above the building and just to the right of the
small boats and you'll have a pleasant and quite interesting photograph.
Thank you very much for these two posts.
They bring back memories of my time spent in London.
Got any more ??
