I'm new to world of high-end digital, having just got my DRebel a few days ago. I'm excited by the expanded potential of the RAW format and the gains it brings to the table. However, I find a lot of the discussion about 12-bit image manipulaton and such to be a little nebulous. I've got a decent amount of experience with Photoshop, but most of my work has been with prepping images for the web (my last job was as a webmaster), which involves going in the opposite direction of quality that I now want to go. I've also got a good handle photographic theory, having been seriously pursuing photography for the last 6 years (and most recently owning a Nikon F4).
Can anyone recommend a book that explains the theory and practice of the digital workflow as pertains to RAW? I want to be able to squeeze every last bit of quality out the format.
Thanks.

Most everyone who's received this CD felt it was pretty lame. It's actually put together like a big infomercial with testimonials from professionls who talk a lot, but don't teach you much of anything. You'll actually learn a lot more just hanging around this forum.

Actually, I poked around the book store the other day and came across a book that has been very helpful:
"The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers"
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735712360/qid=1071945750/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-8702850-5575029?v=glance&s=books
I highly recomment this book for advanced beginners and even old pros. There are some amazing tricks in there to salvage photos that are usually beyond help.

I would recommend Uwe Steinmueller's excellent Digital Outback site -

He publishes several e-books, some of which I believe are on the topic of workflow:
