What do you think of this one? I know the image is centered but I thought it worked with the flower petals.

Just saw this. I like it. Nothing wrong with centered. Did you get that with the Sig? Mine just came today, and it's raining. :(

I like it, works nicely for me. The 'don't center the object' is only a rule, and rules are meant to be broken. Works well as is, nice shot. I'd have possibly underexposed the image to keep some of the detail in the petals and used Photoshop's burn tool to burn detail in on the fly, but it's a tricky thing to get right (you don't want to underexpose the fly too much and not be able to get that detail back).

Was this shot in natural light?

Yes, I took it with the Sigma. I'm still getting used to using it. I find that when handholding the focus is a little farther away than what I was aiming for. eg I get the abdomen in focus rather than the head. I suspect that's poor technique on my part. It's raining here at the moment too ! :cry: Good luck with the new lens.
