I'm not sure if this belongs here, but skydiving is a sport.... right? Anyway, I went to the local Airshow this weekend and in honor of the men and women defending our country (past and present), this sky diver dropped in with the World's Largest American Flag. I thought this was pretty cool.

I'm not sure, I just know that's how they were announcing it. But you have to admit... look at the size of the flag compared to the skydiver and his canopy. That thing was huge!!!!

It may be the world's largest used in skydiving, as at a number of (american) football games, we've had a flag that was the size of the playing field covering the field. i.e. it was a flag 100 yds long!

There's no way the flag in the picture is 100 yds long....

I don't care if it was the worlds largest American flag or not, it is still a very beautiful symbol of freedom and would have been an awesome sight to see, great job Jamey.

In keeping flag etiquite in mind, that flag can not hit the ground or else its unpatriotic to do so.

If what I saw at the Reno Air Races is any indication, there are exceptions. We had a sky-diver do the same thing, the flag dropped and the ground crew picked it up ASAP.

Nice capture :)

There was a group of service men at the landing location. An exception is made for skydivers with flags, but they servicemen did a good job of catching it. It did hit the ground but not for more than a few seconds. This was even mentioned during the ceremony about the exception for hitting the ground. It really was quite a sight.
