Hi all,
this is not spam!lol. My boss is calling me more and more and I would like to go to more photographers to work for. Im looking for a cell phone than can hold a long charge and has a good contract, let alone a good company to work with. Im in the price range of $30-50.00 a month. Do you guys reccomend anything? My current phone is a pay by card deal, which it gets dry quickly with money, but served it's purpose a while ago.
thanks!

i have been using T-mobile for the past 6 years and i am very happy with them. right now i am using the motorola Razr and it is pretty decent. however, for long battery life and just better reception, i think that Nokia is better....

oh, as for the plan, i would probably go with this one:

you can also get the motorola Razr for $50....

write the names of the different companies on a seperate piece of scrap paper. Toss in a hat, pick one.

Realistically thats the best way. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Everyone has the one the love and the one they hate, and they never match up among users.

Go to www.howardforums.com and see the reviews of phones and carriers.

Personally I'm on Cingular with a Razr, and think they're ok for voice useage, but I'm about to go to a Blackberry and they're data services are outrageously priced and they don't offer wifi enable phones anymore, and I don't feel like going to evilbay to get one.

actually, alot of people tried more than one company so they can give you an honest opinion. i had sprint PCS which sucked big time, i had nextel which was ok but fairly expensive. verizon is still the best but they are expensive and i am a big fan of GSM because i travel alot.

if you live in southern oh, get cincinnati bell, love it less then $50.00 for unlimited minutes within dayton area(im sure they have other areas like this) + 500 anytime anywhere minutes if you travel outside your zone... I had cingular & loved it, until i got my bill every month service was awesome, verison is reliable but a little pricey, never get Sprint horrible signal & customer service, Nextel is very hit or miss... t-mobil is goodish... I used to have cricket also, good for about a 40mi radius around dayton, then no signal or crazy roaming.<--that was $50 for unlimited everything... I think that covers about all the none prepaid companies, except alltel which i know nothing about...

I've had heaps of different providers over the past 17 years trying them all out. At the moment I'm using Cingular and I'm pretty happy with that. I enjoy the fact I can pick up another phone(unlocked) on eBay and just swap my Simm card without having to go through Cingular and renewing my contract.

Good luck.

Edit: $50 a month, nation wide plan and rollover minutes.:D

I've been a Verizon customer for some time now - no problems and their coverage seems excellent. We have a family plan that works well dollar wise.

Getting a decent phone is another matter. I get into remote areas that do not have digital service, analog only, and really like the phone to be capable in the area. Of course rules changes will cause issues here. I believe the FCC will allow analog to be discontinued in 2008.

Cingular and the razr for me. Razr is a nice phone, but has horrid battery life.

Forget about these other companies. From my experience, there's only one reliable network, and that's Verizon. If you're using this for business, and need to keep appointments, contacts, etc. I would highly suggest the Treo 700P. I've got the 650, but I don't know as they're selling it anymore. If you haven't got that much cash ($299), go with something else, but I'd stick with Verizon Wireless. The "V" is a great phone, too, at almost $200.

Oh, by the way. The 650 I use right now only gets charged about once every 5-7 days, and that's with very regular talktime useage.

Talk to people in your area. Most carriers sell the same phones, and their plans are all about the same as far as voice is concerned. If you do a lot of text messaging or internet on your phone then look for someone that gives a flat rate for unlimited useage. Here in L.A. most people tend to go with whatever carrier has the best coverage for the areas that they frequent the most.

Talk to the people you are going to be talking to...what company are they using? Who has the best coverage in your area? I had US Cellular for a number of years with no complaints....but Verizon made me an offer too good to pass up...I have a Razr that gets great battery life until you go on an analog tower...then it goes dead in very short order...

My wife and daughter have Sprint, and it's fine.

I have a company cell phone with Verizon, and it's fine.

They're all fine.

I like the paper in a hat idea...

If you have a cell phone now the first thing to do is look at how many minutes you have been using on average over the last 3-6 months. Get a plan with whoever you choose but, make sure your looking at how many minutes a month and not how much a month.
Oh you can save a few dollars by getting the 300 minute a month plan but, if you go over your minutes the rates will kill ya.
I have Cingular and they have rollover minutes. My plan has 2000 minutes a month, and yes I have gone over in a month but, most months I get some into my rollover account which has saved me.

If you have anything but Verizon in this part of the country, ummm... serive pretty much sucks. Verizon dominates Wyoming and Colorado from what I can see... I really like the service.

Verizon

This phone has huge amounts of standby and talk time. I think you would get it free with a new contract.
