I only use IE to test my site when I make changes...just to make sure the less informed consumer base can still see my stuff ok. I do the same with Netscape and Opera.

Firefox is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than all that other crap. Nice to use a browser that does what you want it to instead of being stuck with one that makes you do what it wants.

yea, the extentions ect you can add to it make it even more of a joy than it is when you first download it. Tabed browsing for the win. I mean i dont know how anyone could read these forums without tabed browsing, i usually have like 5-10 threads open at a time.

I think you will find at the end of this survey that Firefox will blow IE away. However if you did the same thing for what people use at work I think you would see IE edge up in the stats. The employer that I used to work for didn't allow Firefox on our computers.

Everywhere else but when I'm on the client site I use Firefox. Having to use IE is agony after using Firefox for years. I played with IE 7 RC1. It was better in comparison to IE6 but that's because it's now a lot like Firefox. :P

nope, it doesn't work with ein blinds, and personally I think its awful and annoying have to download a new extension anytimme you want to do tihns, plus so many sites aren't FF compliant.

IE7 has tabbed browsing and a bunch more features that have made many switch back.

Safari is my preference on my 2 Macs but Firefox is loaded and used for any sites & pages that aren't viewable on Safari.

My MacBook is also running XP (necessary evil for a couple of non-Mac applications) and I'll never use IE on it.

That's the same at my work place, too. AAMOF, Firefox is a banned software and is not allowed on any of the work issued computers and laptops. So I'm stuck with IE at work.

Opera here. Have tried FF several times but not for a while. Problem is I have Opera set up exactly as I like whith skin I like, etc so always seemed a downgrade going to anything else as not as effortless. Opera also feels finished and very stable. I use IE at work but I have a very fast machine there so don't notice the huge difference against Opera much. My new desktop also runs IE very fast. Security I want Opera or FF, but for speed the differences on very fast machines is not worth worrying about to me.

Firefox, mostly. Occasionally will use Safar and, less frequently, IE when at work.

Mainly Firefox. Although I find it does not stand up well to continued use - there's something memory-hogging in it somewhere that only appears after about 20hrs uptime, and it is much slower to restore from minimised than Internet Explorer, even with only one tab open.

Corporates use IE because they like the big fat code indemnities it gives them, plus it's one less application to deploy to the desktop.

This poll really surprised me. I have been a FF user for some time and in general, find very few users. I have turned on a few folks, mostly family members who are not all that computer savvy, but they fall into the old “If it’s MS, it must be the best” mentality. Maybe it’s that Canon users are more progressive and less apt to follow the heard.:) :)

I don't think I will ever leave Firefox, the only, only reason I use IE is when certain websites don't work with the Fox, other then that it's Firefox 24/7. I even have Firefox installer on a thumb drive for school; they have a program called Deepfreeze that deletes all new programs once you turn off the computer, spend 1 minute installing Firefox and I have nice smooth internet browsing.

Mmmm tabs:).

I had tried to work with our IT department to convince them that FF was better, more stable. More productive than IE but to no avail. Their answer finally was “You take it, we will not support it.” Well, I have been a happy user of FF at work, unsupported for almost a year with no issues. Occasionally, FF downloads it’s own patches and when the IT guys come Gestapo-ing in demanding that we all upload the latest patch set, which is 300mb on out turtle of a network and expect to be down for a day because 2000 folks all have to do the same, I just smile and open another tab.

IE users are sort of like N*k*n users...repressed! You really have to feel sorry for those that are so confused that they think that updated extensions are a bad thing or is complicated to deal with, plus...how dare anyone want to customize their browser?

IE 7 is just a FF wannabe that suffers from typical MS bloat. Give me progressive any ole day!

IE 7 at home and at work.

The other browsers are only "more secure" because hackers can't be bothered to hack them because there's not enough users yet (and the fact most commercial users use IE).

If people wanted to hack Firefox and Opera etc, they would do, and easily I'm sure.

Firefox 2.0 is out now. So all the Firefox supporters better head off to the ftp site. The built in spell checking may make CDS's posts a little different. :)

The web site still only lists Firefox 1.5 but if you look around on the ftp site (http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/) you'll find your version of choice.

Just downloaded 2.0, it's faster. Other than that I haven't had it more than five minutes. I think there are some new security things.
Check it out! (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)
Just seen a little difference in the tabs.

namely incompabibility with many sites and having to download extensions etc
Get the IE tab add on HERE (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/)for those sites that you have to have IE for. If I remember right those sites are running Active X which is not supported by FF for security reasons.
