Mrs T and I are going back to Scotland for Christmas and she is trying to decide is she should take both 10D and EOS 30 or just the 10D. She has only had the 10D for a week or so and hasnt tried it for night shots or landscapes. Im trying to persuade Mrs T to take just the 10D so I can fit in more than one pair of pants in our luggage. Please help me to persuade her by telling me that the 10D can do eveything the EOS30 can.

It can do everything and a million times more. Well, maybe not a million, but the 10D makes the D30 a moot point. It's not needed, unless yoiu HAVE to have a backup.

It can't shoot velvia though...... The EOS 30 can... :)
Sorry, I'm not helping am I.
I took the 10D and EOS 30 to wales in the summer, but forgot the EOS 30 grip (and batteries). I didn't miss it.

I also have an EOS 30 and a 10D. I haven't used the EOS 30 since I got the 10D for all the obvious reasons of digital - instant feedback, no need to bring film to a store for processing, etc....

Before I had the 10D I was shooting mostly slides, which I scanned with my film scanner. Even with slides that look really clean to the eye, there were always lots of spots and stuff because of dust and film grain on my scans. I was getting tired of all the work with the clone brush. Also getting the colours right, especially with negatives, was always difficult.

With the 10D, I get clean images with great colours right out of the camera. MUCH more convenient!!!

The 10D can certainly do everything the EOS 30 can and requires less work if you want to process your results digitally.

By the way, your question was about the EOS 30 film camera (called Elan 7E in the USA) vs. the digital 10D, wasn't it? RFMSports seems to think you're talking about the digital D30.

This antique film camera has:
- eye control focus
- a bit faster frame per second than 10D
- multiple exposure

Ha Ha...Antique?

Is Mrs T going to take a photo with Mr T holding a 10D in the high land? Certainly one 10D cannot do everything.

Thanks for the support I managed to persude Mrs T to only take the 10D, one lens and the tripod :D
Unfortunately she filled the space left in the suit case with shoes so Im back to one pair of pants and one pair of socks !
