OK, I have no idea whats going on. I just bought a new 1 gig card, formatted it in my 10D, and filled it up. I stuck it into my card reader, and my Mac said it couldnt recognize it. I had to download the pictures out of the camera, wasting a LOT of time, and batteries. After I got the pics off it, I tried to initialize it, and it said there was an in/out error.
any ideas?

not sure I could answer your question, but on another note, I noticed your avatar and Dane Cook is a silly dude.

I've had no problems with my card on my Intel Mac Pro. Have you tried reformatting the card in camera or in another computer and trying it again?
